Loss of life, loss of a plant, loss of a site, loss of a business, these can be the tragic consequence of insufficient design and operating practices of plants that have a potential for dust or vapour explosions. Mitigating risks is critical in the plant design, operating practices critical to the ongoing safe running of the plant. Below you can read more about Atmosphere Explosibles along with Acmon systems highly professional approach and how we support our customers throughout the design phase and beyond.

ATEX (Atmosphères Explosibles) Directive 2014/34/EU¹ and Directive 1999/92/EC are the European most well-known Regulatory Frameworks for the manufacture, installation and use of equipment in explosive atmospheres. Also known as 'ATEX 114' and 'ATEX 153' respectively, both defines the essential health and safety requirements for equipment and protective systems.

ATEX is "a mixture with air, under atmospheric conditions, of flammable substances in the form of gases, vapours, mists or dusts, in which, after ignition, combustion spreads to the entire unburned mixture".

Whether explosive atmospheres are generated by flammable gases and vapours (Zones 0, 1 ,2) or by combustible dust, fibres and flyings (Zones 20, 21, 22) or even by hybrid mixtures, the importance of the Explosion Protection Document as per the requirements of ATEX 137 Workplace Directive (99/92/EC) or of an Explosion Hazard Assessment Audit is considered for paramount importance.

Acmon systems with a proven track record of 30 years in the field of powder handling and dry solids processing provide solutions designed to capture fugitive dust, prevent spark ignition sources ensuring plant, environmental and users safety keeping your investment sustainable in the long run. Combustible dust explosions can cause tragic loss of life, injuries, and destruction of industrial buildings, and occur within milliseconds.
